  • Romanian border agent. We handed out team shirts to the border guards. Des doing a little dance but failing miserably at impressing Niles.
  • There used to be an iron curtain right here. Duty Free shack is on the left. Van seats on the roof. Jonah's KTM 690 Rally is on the back. The roads in Romania are miserable, as is most of the large scale architecture. The girls are really adorable and the people quite friendly.
  • Each little village we passed through had people lining the streets, mostly to watch the parade of 2000 vehicles pass through. They wave and shout and take pictures of us. The Ford has three massive trian horns on it, mostly for convincing huge animals in Africa to get out of the way. They made the throngs of humans lining the roads do really funny things. Rally is a huge event in many countries outside of North America. It's a little bit weird that it's not popular at all in the US and Canada. Maybe I can help change that.
  • Upon arrival in Baia Mare, where we will stay for the next three days of stages, we unload the bikes for Jonah and David to ride in unassisted. Not sure why this is.
  • Des behind the wheel of the Ford.
  • Another big-ass service truck.
  • David Schwarz fiddles with his 690 Rally KTM, here in the service park at Baia Mare.
  • This is one of the nicer bits of architecture here. There are a lot of kind of run-down buildings from the communist era.
  • Decay. There is about a jillion precent less taggng/vandalism here than back in San Francisco though. This really snads out and kind of maes the bunny stencil piece disappear.
  • Lots of skating behind our spot in the service park.
  • Our spot in the service park, half hour after arriving. It's a lot more set-up, now.
